HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 21 (ACN) The two Cuban canoeists and two kayakers will compete today in the canoeing finals of the 2nd Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, held in the bay of that Paraguayan city.
Led by Yinnolis Franchesca Lopez in the single-seater canoe (C-1) 500 meters, all will be seeking medals, although it will be her second, as she won gold on Wednesday in the C-1 200 meters.
The other three Cuban finalists are kayakers Maria Claudia Alvarez and Julio Cesar Suarez, both in the single-seater kayak (K-1) 500 meters, and canoeist Javier Requiero in the C-1 500 meters.
Yinnolis advanced to the final with a time of 2:20.06 minutes, while Maria Claudia achieved it with a time of 2:02.67, Suarez with 1:45.46, and Requiero did not have to qualify, as she will be in the direct final.
