Cuba-Trinidad and Tobago today at Women's Pan American Volleyball Cup



 HAVANA, Cuba, August 8 (ACN) Cuban women's national team will face Trinidad and Tobago today in the opening round for places seven to ten at the 22nd Senior Pan American Volleyball Cup, which will be held until this Sunday in the Mexican city of Colima.

After finishing fourth in Group A with one win and three losses, Cubans will seek their second victory, which will guarantee an improved final position.

The losses were 2-3 against Peru and Puerto Rico, and 1-3 against Mexico, while the victory came on Thursday against Costa Rica in the closing round of the group stage.

Cuba defeated Costa Ricans with easy scores of 25-10, 25-13, and 25-16, in one hour and nine minutes of action on the court.

According to the official team statistics, Manuel Torres's players dominated the attack, 40 points to 24, the blocking (9-5), the service (6-1), and the errors (9-20).

Individually, Cuba's Dirizett Madan stood out, leading the match with 15 points, 12 on attacks and three on serves, supported by Gretell Moreno (12/7-50) and Yanisleidis Sanchez (11/9-2-0). Costa Rica's Ana Victoria Rojas (10/10-0-0) completed the quartet of players with double figures.
