HAVANA, Cuba, August 3 (ACN) Cuba will give prestige to the Paraguayan capital with the talent of its athletes and its strong history of sports, and will do so with one of the largest delegations (231 members, 19 more than in Colombia four years ago) among the 41 participating countries.
Only four of the 231 Cuban athletes have been in Olympic Games, and the rest will surely have a chance to compete in Los Angeles 2028, Brisbane 2032, or in the venue chosen for 2036, the newspaper Juventud Rebelde remarks.
“Patience, perseverance, and a hunger for success are the necessary vitamins on this long road. For now, each member of our delegation is looking to their nearest horizon: the Junior Pan American Games to be held in Asunción, Paraguay, on August 9 to 23”, the article states.
Asunción, one of the oldest cities in South America, will gather more than 4,000 participants between the ages of 12 and 22.
“Cuba embraces the concept of sports camaraderie promoted by this festival of muscle without losing sight of the competitive spirit and the insatiable desire to win always found in the very fabric of our athletes”, the publication points out.
