Cuban swimmer bids farewell to the World Aquatics Championships

HAVANA, Cuba, July 30 (ACN) Cuba’s Laurent Estrada bid farewell to the swimming competition of the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, under way in Singapore, with her second best mark in the 50m backstroke event (30:24s).

The 21-year-old swimmer, who won the third preliminary heat and finished 41st among 63 competitors, failed to improve her personal best (30:17s), achieved in May at the 1st Pan-American Aquatics Championships held in Medellín, Colombia, although she hasn't shown any signs of slowing down either.

The Cuban record is held by Andrea Becali (30:05s), unbroken since the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador.

Becali will be precisely the one to close Cuba’s participation in the competition when she competes in the 100m freestyle event today.
