HAVANA, Cuba, July 15 (ACN) Cuba’s Saidel Horta (57 kg), world runner-up in Tashkent 2023, won for the third time at the Guizhou Open Boxing Tournament in China and will fight on Thursday for the division belt.
Horta earned a 4-1 victory over Kazakhstan's Assylzhan Serikbay in the semifinals, a stage otherwise unfortunate for his teammates Leonardo Buides (+91 kg) and Dayira Mesa (75 kg), who had to make do with the bronze medal after both lost 3-0 to the Uzbek Arman Makhanov and the Chinese Lu Zhen, respectively.
So far, Cuba has won one silver and five bronze medals.
