HAVANA, Cuba,Jul 15 (ACN) Cuba increased its bronze medals to six at the Guizhou Open Boxing Tournament in China, following Jorge Cuellar's (71 kg) easy 5-0 victory over local champion Gang Wang on the fourth round of the event.
Cuellar joined world runner-up Saidel Horta (57 kg), Nelson Williams (92 kg), Dayira Mesa (75 kg), Leonardo Buides (+92 kg), and Arianne Imbert (66 kg), who advanced to the semifinals earlier, although the latter two have yet to make their debut in this competition, according to JIT.
The Caribbean team suffered a defeat on Monday by Ernesto Comas (63.5 kg) against Mongolian Bayarkhuu Buyandalai, who caused a protection count in the second round.
At the end of the fight, he earned a deserved unanimous verdict from all five judges. The young Angel Sober (51 kg) was also supposed to climb into the ring but a flu prevented him from doing so and his host rival won by no-show.
