HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 15 (ACN) Ten Cuban cyclists will participate in the 2025 Tour de Panama, scheduled for July 22-26, with the participation of 12 international and ten local teams.
The Cuba-Rali team is led by the U23s Randol Izquierdo, Caribbean road race champion, and Jose Alberto Dominguez, national champion in that event the last two years, Cuban trump cards for the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion.
Completing the roster are Yadiel Hernandez, from the Cuban youth team; Yariel de Leon, from the elite team from Matanzas, who finished fourth in the national road race; and Vicente Sanabria, Joselin Piedra, Yusnier Alvarez, and Jose Alberto Deza, prominent elite masters.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Delgado, with the Colombian HYF team, and Amed Marcos from the American City Bike team will also compete from the new generation of the Caribbean national team.
Eduardo Alonso, technical director of Cuba-Rali, emphasized the importance of taking advantage of these invitations from the organizers to give young athletes experience in high-level races, which are very positive for their development and also stimulating after months of training.
This year's Panamanian Tour kicks off on July 22 with a 94.3-kilometer stage.The remaining stages will be 97.6, 113.6, 124, and 95 kilometers, respectively, and the last stage will be the only one to take place on a closed circuit, according to the event website.
One of the aspirations for this Olympic cycle of Cuban cycling is to secure tickets for both genders to the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo.
