Cuba debuts today with five athletes at the Arcobaleno Meeting



 HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 8 (ACN) Cuba will debut today with five athletes at the Arcobaleno International Meeting in Celle Ligure, Italy, a Challenger category event on the World Athletics Continental Tour, seeking points for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

In the 400 meters, Roxana Gomez will lead the Cuban team after setting a record at the Ordizia meeting with a personal best of 50.40 seconds, very close to the qualifying time of 50.75 seconds.

Yanisleidy Garcia and Reynaldo Espinosa will compete in the 100 meters, an event that requires times of 11.07 seconds and 10.00 seconds, respectively, to qualify for the world championship.

Greisys Robles returns to the 100m hurdles, an event in which the minimum time required is 12.73 seconds, after finishing sixth at the Sotteville-lès-Rouen International Meeting, held on Monday in France, with a time of 13.20 seconds.

Meanwhile, young Hayla Gonzalez will be looking for points in the long jump after recently achieving 6.47 meters in Pamplona.

The Arcobaleno Meeting offers important points and the opportunity to approach or secure minimum times for Tokyo 2025, scheduled for September 13-21.
