HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 7 (ACN) Cuban La Lisa team will debut today against Pariba, representing host Curaçao, in the U12 Caribbean Little League Baseball tournament, which will award a spot to the World Series in Pennsylvania next August.

The Havana team, champion of the national tournament in this category, traveled on Sunday to the Curaçao city of Willemstad, host of the regional tournament, where eight teams will meet in two qualifying groups.

Monday, the first day of the competition, the Dominican Republic and Aruba will also face each other in Group A, while the U.S. Virgin Islands-Bonaire and Saint Martin-Pabao (the other home team) are scheduled for the other Group A matches.

Cubans' schedule is completed with matches against Aruba (8) and the Dominican Republic (9).

At the end of the preliminary phase, the top two teams in each group will compete in the semifinals on July 11, and the winners will play on July 12 for the gold medal and the sole ticket to Pennsylvania.

The Little League World Series annually brings together the champions of ten international tournaments and an equal number of US teams, winners of the circuits across the country for this championship, to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The US team from Florida is the current Little League World Series champion, after defeating Taipei of China in the 2024 final, 2-1.
