HAVANA, Cuba, July 4 (ACN) Cuban beach duo of Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo defeated Austria's Cristobal Dresler-Phillipp Weller 2-0 today in the Elite 16 tournament in Gstaad, Switzerland.
Cubans defeated the Austrians by scores of 21-19 and 21-19, with Alayo leading the match with 24 points: 13 in attacks, four in blocks, and two in serves.
Dresler led the match (25/20-4-1).
The official team statistics for the match show that Austria was the better player in attacks, with 27 points, tied in blocks (4-4), but Cuba outperformed them on serves (3-2) and in errors (5-10).
This afternoon, Cubans will seek another victory against the Dutch duo of Van de Velde-Broywer.
