Cuba vs. Argentina today at Women's Softball Pan American Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, July 1 (ACN) Cuban women's softball team will face Argentina today in a crucial matchup for the Super Round of the 11th Pan American Championship, being held in the Colombian city of Monteria.

Cubans face the rival as undefeated leaders of this phase, with a 4-0 record, after defeating El Salvador (6-0) and Colombia (6-1) on Sunday, once again showing solidity in both hitting and pitching.

Yarianna Lopez stood out in the doubleheader, with three hits and four RBIs against the Salvadorans, and star left-handed pitcher Yilian Tornes dominated the hosts with a complete game and 11 strikeouts, reaffirming her position as the tournament's leading strikeout hitter (48).

Argentina, meanwhile, is coming off an 8-4 loss to Venezuela and will look to regain ground in the standings today when the two teams meet at the Jose Gabriel Amín Manzur Stadium.

The Caribbean team, already qualified for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, are now looking for one of the five spots in the World Cup phases and one of the six places in the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
