HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 27 (ACN) Opposing Uzbek player Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova, Cuban Yerisbel Miranda will begin her road at the Women's Chess World Cup, which will take place in Batumi, Georgia, July 5-29.
Yerisbel will be the only Cuban representative among the 107 players selected for the event, featuring KO matches with a pair of classic duels and rapid tiebreaks, if necessary.
The current top players will compete in the Georgian city, including the defending champion, Russia's Aleksandra Goryachkina.
Winner of the only ticket awarded in the 2.3.2 region tournament, Yerisbel has entered the event in the midst of a successful season in which she also won the national title last February.
She is ranked 83rd with an Elo rating of 2205, while Tokhirjonova is ranked 46th with a total of 2370.
This is the third time the tournament has been held under the World Cup name and is part of the circuit for the overall title.
The winners of the top three places secure qualification for the Candidates Tournament, which will be held in the first half of 2026.
