HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 20 (ACN) Cuban canoeing will participate with a full team in the 2nd edition of the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay, scheduled to take place from August 9 to 23.
Amid the preparations for the Paraguayan multi-sport event at the Hanabanilla Dam in the central province of Villa Clara, the National Federation (FCC) received the good news that it will compete in the 16 events organized, who sent the long-awaited increase in the two missing tickets for Cuban canoe and kayak athletes.
Serguey Torres, Olympic champion in canoeing, supports the work of coach Jose Ramon Paula and confirmed the information to the Cuban News Agency.
As Torres recalls, the formal request was recently processed by Panam Sports, the Pan American Canoe Confederation (COPAC), the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC), and the FCC itself, and the response was positive, with the approval of the quotas for the women's tandem canoe (C-2) and the men's kayak quadruple (K-4).
Cuba already had 10 secured spots, having obtained them at the U-22 Pan American Championship in Montevideo, Uruguay, held on Lake Calcagno, Torres stated.
