HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 12 (ACN) The men's team of Slovenia, third in the world ranking, defeated Cuba 3-1 in the beginning of the first week of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL), held in Rio de Janeiro, where Team Cuba will face the host Brazilians today.
The Slovenians demonstrated their condition of favorites in a match in which they took advantage of the 28 errors committed by the Cubans and their deficiencies in almost all aspects of the game, mainly in reception
The winners outmatched Cuba in attack (51-44), serves (5-3) and opponent errors (21-28), whereas they were even in blocks (12-12).
After Brazil, Cuba will play against Ukraine on the 13th and U.S.A. on the 14th, and then will go to Belgrade, where they will be dealing with Germany, Serbia, The Netherlands and Argentina, followed by the third week of competition in Gdansk, in which the contenders will be Bulgaria, Poland, France and China.
