Four Cuban swimmers will compete in Asuncion

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 11 (ACN) Four Cuban swimmers―the female athletes Andrea Becali and Laurent Estrada and the males Vladimir Hernandez and Yadiel Estrada―will participate in the 2025 Junior Pan American Games, to be held in Asuncion, Paraguay, on August 9 to 23.

Andrea, who is currently training in Australia, will be in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events and in the 100m backstroke competition, whereas Laurant will deal with the 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m and 100m freestyle, and 200m individual medley events.

On their end, Vladimir and Yadiel will have the 400m, 800m and 1500m and the 50m and 100m competitions, respectively.

Head trainer Mirtha Díaz expects the best of the four swimmers in Asuncion despite the quality of their potential contenders, namely outstanding figures from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, without ruling out the American and Canadian athletes, whose presence is still an unknown factor.

“I hope that Laurent, Andrea and Vladimir make it to the finals, and what’s more, that they win a medal”, she said.
