Cuban soccer team arrived in Antigua and Barbuda for the Concacaf qualifiers

 

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 4 (ACN) Cuban national soccer team is today in Antigua and Barbuda, venue of the match the day after tomorrow against the local team in the CONCACAF qualifiers for the World Cup of the United States, Mexico and Canada 2026.

Upon arrival in Antigua's V. C. Bird International Airport, they were received by the Cuban ambassador to that country, Sergio Martinez Gonzalez, according to the digital edition of the sports publication JIT.

While talking with the members of the coaching staff and players, the diplomat expressed the willingness of Cubans living in that Caribbean nation, especially the members of the various collaboration brigades, to support the national team in the match.

Cuban team completed the list of all those called up by technical director Yunielys Castillo to play the double elimination date, with the incorporation of Onel Hernandez and Raico Arrozarena.

After Friday's match, the Cuban senior national team will travel to Santiago de Cuba, where on June 10 it will play at home against Bermuda.

In their preparation for this double elimination date, the Leones del Caribe recently defeated Atletico San Cristobal, from the Dominican league, 4-0 in a friendly match in Santo Domingo. The goals were scored by Jorge Aguirre, Diego Catasus, Leandro Mena and Dairon Reyes, while Pedro Bravo added three assists in the match.
