Cuban promising hurdler Yander Herrera continues consolidating his progression towards his great goal of the year: the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025.
A comfortable victory at the 7th Confrontational Trial of the year with a time 13.70 seconds (s), with a downwind of -0.3 meters (m) per second, ratifies his constancy, as well as his capacity to keep competitive times.
Herrera is part of the Cuban team for the summer athletic tour, which includes his participation in the Moscow meeting, on June 6 and 8.
According to the official calendar of the Cuban Athletics Federation, he could also attend other top-level meetings in Europe, as long as his performance supports him and the budget allows it.
Each competition is an opportunity to learn, grow and correct, but my goal is clear: to arrive in Asuncion in full to seek the gold, emphasized the young hurdler, who also holds the national cadet record (13.25 s).
At only 18 years of age, the Cuban has become a reference in young Cuban athletics, breaking his personal record with 13.44 s in the 110 m hurdles, during the Jesus Molina 2025 Memorial, held in March this year.
With talent, competitive maturity and a clear vision, Yander Herrera is already outlining his candidacy to become the new face of sprint hurdles in Cuba.
