The selection was confirmed by Alejandro Puerto, president of the national federation, who highlighted that the four triathletes will participate in the three modalities called: women's individual, men's individual and mixed relay.
The team qualified during the 9th Havana Triathlon, held in February, in which Cuba secured the four available spots for the Paraguayan continental event.
Marcos Fernandez was crowned junior men's champion in that event, with a 58:05 minute total time, completing the swimming, cycling and running legs with a solid and steady pace.
His teammate Alain Brian Fernandez finished ninth (59:58), which also qualified him for Asuncion.
In the women's category, Salamah Mahroos, after her fifth continental place in Havana, won the silver medal this month at the Amatique 2025 Regional Triathlon Cup, held in Guatemala, where she demonstrated her strength in swimming and cycling.
Meanwhile, Claudia Gurri, a former student swimmer, surprised by her quick adaptation to triathlon: she was ninth in the Havana Triathlon and national runner-up in the recent selective in the Marina Hemingway, with a 1:12:19.
Gurri had timed 1:09: 47 in the qualifier for the Paraguayan capital, the same distance and circuit as the National Selective this month.
As part of their preparation for Asuncion, the four will compete in the Pan American Triathlon Championship in Calima, Colombia, on June 6 and 7.
This event will award points for the world ranking and will be key for the evaluation of the team with a view to the 2025 World Championship in Wollongong, Australia.
