HAVANA, Cuba, May 7 (ACN) The 3rd edition of the National Women's Boxing Championship 2025 kicks off today at the Rafael Fortun multi-purpose hall in the central-eastern city of Camaguey, with 43 women registered in six weight categories.
The super heavyweight division is the most crowded with nine boxers, among them two of the three girls who attended the last world championship in the Serbian city of Nis, according to what was announced after the technical meeting of the fight. Yadira Mesa and Joanna Rodriguez are the favorites in that division along with Naibel Morado.
Eight other women appear in the 54 and 60 kilograms, as well as seven in 66 kilograms, six in 57 and five in the 50.
The meeting also ratified that the team delegates will have to present the results of the pregnancy test required for each of the registered competitors, in accordance with the priority assigned to their health.
The final of the championship is scheduled for May 10, and six gold medals, an equal number of silver and 12 bronze ones are to be awarded.
