HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) Cuban duo of Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo will continue their participation in the World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour 2025 at the Elite 16 tournament in Brasilia, to be held April 16-20 in the Brazilian city.
According to the website of the International Federation www.fivb.com, Cubans are in Group E of the main draw, so they will not have action until the 17th, as well as the Latvian duo of 48-year-old veteran Martins Plavins, bronze medalist at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the young Kristians Fekerots (19).
Diaz and Alayo, members of the Caribbean's current top duo, finished in ninth place in the Paris 2024 multisport event with an outstanding performance that included finishing their qualifying group as undefeated leaders.
Francisco Alvarez Cutiño's disciples, currently ninth in the world ranking (WR), without taking into account the fifth step achieved in Saquarema, were left on the way to the podium by the Swedes David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, champions in the Parisian competition and number one in the WR.
They faced a similar obstacle this weekend at the Elite 16 in Saquarema, Brazil, and finished in fifth place with the only loss to Ahman and Hellvig, but with another outstanding performance.
So far in 2025, Diaz and Alayo also accumulated a gold medal in the Elite 16 of Quintana Roo, and a fifth place in the Challenger of Yucatan, in both cases in the Mexican arena.
Undoubtedly, a good preparation to face the World Championship in Adelaide, scheduled to take place next May.
