According to the International Federation's website www.ijf.org, the top-level competition that will bring together 414 -235 men and 179 women- representing 53 countries, is a good opportunity to maintain or climb steps in the world ranking (WR) at the beginning of the Olympic cycle that will close in Los Angeles 2028.
Olympian Silva, Baku 2018 world runner-up, but in the 90 kg, and owner of bronzes at the recent GS in Paris and Tashkent, and gold at the Linz Grand Prix, currently appears in 29th place in the RM in the 100 kg, and climbed 16 places after the title won at the Australian tournament.
The other two Cuban judocas who will be present in Georgia are Jonathan Charon (60 kg), fifth place -discussed bronze- in Tashkent, and Maylin del Toro (63kg), as Andy Granda (+100 kg), was in the plans, but had to leave the critical route due to personal problems and return to Cuba, where he already trains in Cerro Pelado, informed to Cuban News Agency, Andres Taño, national judo commissioner.
Charon is ranked 35th in the WR, Maylin in 25th and Granda in sixth, who is doing well thanks to his status as world champion of Tashkent 2022, fifth place - he disputed bronze - in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to which is added, among other results, the bronze achieved in the GS of Tashkent.
The critical route is completed with the Pan American championship in Santiago de Chile (April 25-27), the national elite first category championship (May 20-29), the world senior championship (June 13-20) in Hungary, the youth championship (date and venue pending), and the Cerro Pelado Games in Havana.
