HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 3 (ACN) The second group of Cuban rowers who will participate in the qualifier for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, will head out today to that Paraguayan city, venue of the tournament prior to the multi-sport event, scheduled from the 18th to the 23rd of next year.
As reported by Angel Luis Garcia, president and national commissioner, to the Cuban News Agency, the first one left on Saturday and the second one will leave on Monday, with the objective of completing a training base in that country.
Garcia recalled that those chosen among the men are Leduar Suarez, Roberto Carlos Paz, Henry Joan Heredia, Pedro Antonio Gonzalez, Keiler Avila, Adel Gutierrez, Rober Landy Fernandez.
The women are Claudia Tolon, Marialis Leiva, Ana Laura Jimenez, Natalie Barbara Morales, Lisandra Barbara Verdecia, Anelis de la Caridad Galindo, Dagne Mendez and Keyla Almaguer.
Cuban president and national commissioner added that the qualifying tournament is for U23 athletes and includes 10 modalities, including the mixed coxed eight.
Regarding the tickets in contest, he explained that there will be four, without taking into account the Paraguayan boats, already classified due to their condition of hosting the 2nd edition of the multisport event, from August 9 to 23.
He also said that this will be the first one that will distribute tickets, since there will be a second event in the same venue, but in August.
Cubans aim to win places in four specialties for men, the double pair of short oars (2x), four pair (4x), double and four coxless (2- and 4-), while for women we will do it in the 1x, 2x, 4x and 4-, in all cases open weights.
