HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 19 (ACN) Cuba’s Luis Enrique Zayas won the silver medal with a 2.25m jump in the High Jump Meet of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, a World Indoor Tour Silver Meeting.
The gold and bronze medals went respectively to the South Korean Sanghyeok Woo (2.28 m) and the Italian Manuel Lando (2.21m).
Zayas had scored 2.12m in Udine and 2.25m in Hustopeče as part of a tour in which he’s fine-tuning his skills with a view to the 2025 World Indoor Championships in Nanjing.
In 2023, the two-time Pan American champion who boasts an all-time indoor record of 2.33m notched up a historic fourth place at the Budapest World Indoor Championships (2.33m) before a number of injuries complicated his 2024 season.
The Cuban Athletics Federation confirmed that he will compete in the Trinec Meeting (Czech Republic) and the Grand Prix of Valencia (Spain), before defining his qualification to Nanjing.
