HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 12 (ACN) The Cuban rowers and canoeists striving to get a place in the 2025 Junior Pan American Games, to be held in Asuncion, Paraguay on August 9 to 23, are already training in the province of Villa Clara’s Hanabanilla Lake.
According to sports authorities, 16 athletes―8 men and 8 women―of up to 23 years of age are competing for one of the four places made available at the Games as they prepare themselves as well for the seniors’ world championships and other major international events.
Undoubtedly, these athletes are in for quite a few competitions in this, the first year of the Olympic cycle that will close with the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where the Cuban canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo will surely try to retain the bronze medal she won in Paris 2024.
