Cuba vs. Nicaragua, in the semifinal of the Baseball Series of the Americas

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) Nicaragua’s national team and Cuba’s Las Tunas Leñadores will clash today for the right to play the final game of the 1st Baseball Series of the Americas.

The Nicaraguans, who lost only one game―to the as yet undefeated Curaçaoans―have proved to be a great team across the board, will strive to impose their status as favorite team on their Cuban rivals, who made it this far thanks to the benefits of the competition system.

On their end, Cuba’s two-time national champions Leñadores are the other side of the coin: they finished the first round with a 2-3 record and, truth be told, have seen their image suffered as a result of their poor performance.

The Cubans took two knockouts in a row, something that had never happened before to any team representing the island in an international tournament, so the optimism among their fans is at rock bottom, despite Prensa Latina reports that a good mood prevails among the players.
