HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) Colombia, represented by the team Barranquilla Caimanes, lost 2-7 to Nicaragua on Tuesday and opened the doors of the semifinal stage of the Baseball Series of the Americas to the Cubans.
On the same day, Cuba’s Las Tunas Leñadores beat Argentina’s Club Daom 18-5 to finish the first round with two wins and three losses, enough to remain in the tournament.
The Colombians, who needed a win to get the last ticket to the semifinals, have to pack their bags to go back home.
Curaçao, Panama, Cuba and Nicaragua qualified their teams for the final round, where the rivals will be defined after tonight's game between the Panamanians and the Curaçaoans.
