Barbadian Official Visit to Cuba Expands Bilateral Sports Exchange

Havana, Dec 5 (ACN) Barbados’ Minister of Sports, Youths and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, made a five-day visit to Cuba this week, at the invitation of the island’s Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).

Griffith described his stay here as fruitful; a visit that favored the expansion of bilateral exchange in sports following the signing of a cooperation accord which stressed the historical bonds of friendship and collaboration between the two nations.

The document will boost technical assistance and exchange of trainers and coaches as well as the joint setting up of academic programs, the reinforcement of anti-doping control and other aspects of mutual interest.

While in Cuba, the Barbadian official visited the Center for Sports Research (CIDC), where he met with directives and officials from the Cubadeportes Trade Society, and carried out other activities on his agenda.

Griffith was accompanied by his permanent secretary Joy Adamson, the director of the National Sports Council, Neil Murrell; Sports Development official Stephen Rowe and Barbadian embassy official Disa Lewis.

On Thursday, the visiting delegation was seen off at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport by INDER vice-president Teresa Mendez, International Relations director Gisleidy Sosa, accompanied by Sharon Milagro Marschall, Barbadian ambassador to Havana.
