HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 27 (ACN) The Cuban team participating in the Continental Women’s Chess Championship, under way in Santo Domingo, are still far from the top places as the competition enters the home straight.
For now, Yerisbel Miranda’s 18th position, among 50 players, marks Cuba’s best performance, whereas her teammate Yaniela Forgas ranks 23rd.
The other Cuban player, Leannet Mariah Bosch―Team Cuba’s youngest―has notched up 2.5 points and is in 25th place.
The competition is led by Candela Belen Francisco (Argentina), winner of last year’s event, Javiera Gómez (Chile), and Zoey Tan (U.S.A.), all three with 4.5 points.
