HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 1 (ACN) Cuba secured two silver medals at the Youth World Boxing Championship in Budva 2024, Montenegro, with the semifinal victories of Yojander Fuentes, 57 kilograms (kg) and David Manuel Espinosa (86 kg), who will discuss this weekend the gold medals.
The first to win the pass to the final was Espinosa, by unanimously defeating Mexican Juan Diego Flores, who could do little against the Cuban's superiority shown in the ring.
Then Fuentes won by a 3-2 decision over Armenian Erik Arstamvan, in a fight that was tightly contested by the judges' verdict.
The finals are scheduled to take place this Saturday and Sunday, as announced by the organizers at the technical meeting, which also announced the presence of 593 fighters - 413 men and 180 women - from 73 countries.
