HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 31 (ACN) Cuba will seek to secure two silver medals today in the semifinals of the 2024 World Youth Boxing Championships, currently under way in Budva, Montenegro, with Yojander Fuentes (57 kg) and David Manuel Espinosa (86 kg).
On Wednesday, Fuentes beat the Russian Islam Ibragimov, whereas Espinosa prevailed over the Moldovan Daniil Gguranda. Today they will be opposite Erik Arstamvan (Armenia) and Juan Diego Flores (Mexico), respectively.
With only two boxers left in competition, Cuba will be unable to improve its performance in La Nucia, Spain, in 2022, where the island won two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
The 2024 World Youth Boxing Championships gathers 593 athletes (413 men and 180 women) from 73 countries.
