HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (ACN) Cuban national talent team lost 1-2 to Curacao on the Andre Rodgers Stadium and could not reach the final of the 6th edition of the Caribbean Cup, which is being held in Nassau, Bahamas.
The team coached by Alexander Urquiola couldn't defend the crown won in the last edition of 2023 after finishing, with three successes and two failures, in third place in the qualifying phase, behind their opponents of this day and the surprising U.S. Virgin Islands.
Today, Monday, Cubans will play for the bronze medal of the tournament against St. Maarten.
The Curacaoans barely hit three hits against starter Jose Ignacio Bermudez, but one of them was a double by Kevin Josefina, which led to the two runs that defined the game.
Cuban reliever Randy Martinez gave a good performance by retiring four opponents while waiting for an offensive reaction, but his team's did not produce any runs.
Cuba's only run was scored in the third inning on a single by Carlos de la Tejera on a pitch from Joharvi Matinus, but reliever Nkosi Didder did not allow any liberties in four and two-thirds innings to get the game's victory.
