HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 25 (ACN) Cuban U12 baseball team participating at the Pan American Championship in Panama defeated Venezuela 4-3 and got their pass to the semifinals and a place at the 2025 World Cup.
After defeating Argentina, Brazil and Puerto Rico, the team from the Caribbean island overcame the South Americans to finish the qualifying stage as second in Group B, behind the undefeated Dominican Republic (5-0), and fulfill the goal they set for themselves in this tournament.
The win went to Alexandro Martinez, after four innings in which he allowed three clean runs, conceded one walk and struck out two opponents.
Humberto Alfonso pitched the last two innings and although he accepted two hits, he managed to finish the game to secure the important victory for his team.
Cuba will face in the semifinals against the first place of group A, which will be the winner between US and the host Panamanians, both teams with four wins without defeats in this competition and with safe places in the World Cup.
