HOLGUIN, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) With the participation of representatives from Chile, Canada, Peru and Honduras, the 1st International Convention on Energy, New Technologies and Innovation for Development EnergyTID and the 4th Symposium on Gender and Renewable Energies were held simultaneously in the eastern Cuban city of Holguin.
Both events were held for three days at the Gran Muthu Almirante Hotel, in the Guardalavaca beach resort, in order to promote scientific dialogue for the common benefit, exchange knowledge and experiences on the change of the energy matrix and generate strategic collaboration spaces.
The meeting, promoted by the University of Holguin (UHo), included four specialized workshops given by experts in engineering, industry and training aimed at sustainable development, explained exclusively to Cuban News Agency MSc. Julio Borrero Neninger, president of the Organizing Committee and professor at the University of Holguin.
They addressed key issues for the economic progress of the Caribbean nation such as the management of construction and hydraulic works, the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) until 2030 and the role of women in the energy sector, he said.
In this regard, she noted that the fist edition of EnergyTID took place in parallel to the 4th symposium in the framework of the Strengthening Women's Leadership and Participation in the Renewable Energy Sector in Cuba (Former) project, an initiative of the Cuban and Canadian governments.
In addition, he added that the event had representation of guests and speakers from the University of Moa Dr. Antonio Nuñez Jimenez Jimenez, Sherritt International and the consulting firm Cowater, both from Canada.
