HAVANA, Cuba, April 22 (ACN) In a post on Facebook, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Rafael Fernández de Cossío Domínguez remarked that the rise in electricity generation and the relative reduction of power outages in recent days reveal the impact of the oil blockade imposed by the United States.
“The U.S. government shamelessly claims that the problems of insufficient generation capacity are due to the supposed incompetence of the Cuban government. Why then does it threaten coercive reprisals against any country that exports fuel to Cuba?” Mr. Fernández stated.
“It is impossible to conceal the criminal and ruthless effect of the collective punishment imposed by the U.S. government on the Cuban people”, he said, not without acknowledging the technological challenges facing the national power grid.
“Cuba maintains its sovereign right to import fuel from any nation with which it chooses to establish trade relations, without accepting external pressure or coercive measures intended to limit its capacity for international negotiation”, he underscored.
