Cuba and France discussed economic cooperation

HAVANA, Cuba, January 27 (ACN) Oscar Perez-OlivaFraga, Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Bertrand Dumont, Director General of the French Treasury, met in Paris to explore mechanisms for strengthening bilateral economic ties and cooperation, reported the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Cubaminrex.

The meeting was part of the work program of a Cuban delegation in France, which also included a follow-up meeting with the Paris Club, a group of creditors chaired by Dumont.

The discussion focused on ways to consolidate relations between the two countries, which have maintained diplomatic ties for more than 120 years.

Perez-OlivaFraga briefed his host on the situation in the Caribbean nation, which is affected by the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. administration, an extraterritorial policy that also impacts French companies, banks, and citizens.

Cuban side conveyed Havana's willingness to maintain dialogue at the official level and to work together to strengthen economic ties, in the context of global challenges.

The delegation also included Vladimir Regueiro, Minister of Finance and Prices; Otto Vaillant, Ambassador to France; and representatives from the Central Bank and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who participated in the official talks.
