Cuba denounces obstacles placed by Florida politicians on economic ties

HAVANA, Cuba, January 27 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, CubanForeign Minister, denounced on social media that Florida politicians are obstructing and threatening American and Cuban businesspeople residing in that state who maintain economic and commercial relations with public and private entities in Cuba.

His message also points out that these threats are occurring while the United States government claims to defend free enterprise and the freedom of its citizens to invest and do business in any nation.

In this regard, Rodriguez Parrilla emphasized that these operations have licenses issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Department of the Treasury, which demonstrates the legality of the ties.

However, in his post, he indicated that under unfounded pretexts, there are attempts to close off avenues of cooperation and limit opportunities for exchange.

Who is blocking and closing ties between the two countries? “Who is maintaining a retrograde and criminal policy and waging an economic war against the Cuban people?” the foreign minister questioned in his post, accompanied by the hashtag #BreakTheBlockade.

The head of Cuban diplomacy reiterated that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Washington constitute an obstacle to the development of the Cuban people and an act contrary to international law, while calling for an end to the blockade policy that has affected the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.
