Havana, Cuba, Jun 30 (ACN) Ines Maria Chapman, Cuban deputy PM, is leading the Cuban delegation attending the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, which kicks off today in Seville, Spain.
At the event, Cuban deputy prime minister will advocate for a new international financial architecture that will allow the mobilization of the necessary financing to tackle the climate crisis and achieve sustainable development, Cuban government reported on X.
On the same social media, Chapman stated that the event will advance the international agenda on financing for development and will feature interventions by representatives from multiple countries, roundtable discussions, and bilateral meetings.
Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal, deputy director general for multilateral affairs and international law at the Cuban foreign ministry, also on X, indicated that they participated in a side event on Financing for Development for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
We emphasize that in the case of Cuba, the challenges faced by SIDS are escalated due to the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade, Rodriguez Abascal stated.
The 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, which will run until July 3, represents an opportunity to reform financing for development at all levels, to promote the reform of the international financial architecture, and to address the challenges that are hindering the urgent investment needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
This conference is the only forum in which leaders from all governments, along with international and regional organizations, financial and commercial institutions, businesses, civil society, and the United Nations system meet at the highest level to strengthen international cooperation.
