Economic institutions convene 15th International Meeting of Economists

HAVANA, Cuba, May 7 (ACN) The National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC by its Spanish acronym) and the Association of Economists of Latin America and the Caribbean are calling for the 15th International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development Problems to be held May 12-15, 2026.

The Havana Convention Center will host this event, whose urgency is based on the seriousness of the current economic and social situation in a changing world, where changes in geoeconomic and geopolitical interactions are generating a reconfiguration of power at the global level.

According to the call, the persistence of a deep crisis characterized by low economic growth, trade tensions, erosion of the multilateral system, weak investment, increasing economic, technological and social asymmetries, progressive deterioration of the environment, and conflicts that threaten wars of alarming proportions, among others, call for a debate aimed at seeking alternatives to address the current reality and options that will lead to sustainable development.

Therefore, we call upon economists, political scientists, sociologists and social scientists in general, from different theoretical and conceptual positions but all committed to the defense of humanity, to express their ideas, results of studies and research.

The ANEC and the AEALC call for a rigorous debate that will make it possible to elaborate proposals in relation to the problems enunciated with a view to submitting them to decision-makers, in a bold multilateral academic action, which constitutes an unavoidable commitment.
