Havana, Jan 13 (ACN) Cuba expects to increase operations at its major international airports in tune with a local development program running till 2030.
The investment process will help enlarge and remodel Terminal 3 at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, which will increase by 30 percent the facility’s arrivals capacity, said the president of the Cuban Aviation Corporation (CAC) as cited by PL news agency.
Arrival capacities at Terminal 2 in Havana airport will also be increased to cushion any sudden ops peak, said the official on Facebook.
He also referred to the rehabilitation of other local airports on the Cuban keys and on mainland. For instance, the airport at Cayo Largo del Sur-- a key to the south of western main land -- was fully refurbished, he said.
Other airports refurbished last year included those in Varadero beach resort, and in eastern Camaguey and Holguin provinces, while the air terminal in Santiago de Cuba is also on the program for 2025.
The investment program for Cuban airports is well underway as scheduled despite the effects of the US blockade against Cuba, which hinders the purchase by the island of fuels and other resources.
