LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Jan 10 (ACN) Salvador Valdes Mesa, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and vice president of the country, called on the workers of the Antonio Guiteras sugar mill to work very efficiently when the mill begins to produce sugar in the next few days.
During a visit to this sugar refinery, Valdes Mesa talked with the collective so that each area fulfills its objectives and trusted that this gigantic industry will know how to make the most of the sugar cane, a percentage of which was not cut in previous harvests and is at a disadvantage in terms of yields.
At the meeting, which was attended by Walter Simon Noris, first secretary of the PCC in the province, it was learned that in the next three days the Guiteras will be dedicated to the production of meladura, an important raw material for the extraction of derivatives, mainly alcohols.
After this task, it was said, the production of crude oil will begin, a task of vital importance for the country's economy, where only 15 mills will be dedicated to this production.
Henceforth, the Guiteras will have a hard task to face, since for different reasons this January 10 will be a month late in its start-up, hence the call made to this powerful industry, which has not fulfilled its sugar program since 2019, although it continues to be the largest sugar manufacturer in the history of sugar harvests in Cuba.
