Diaz-Canel visited entities in Cuban western provinces

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 25 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC PCC) and president of the country, toured centers of economic and social interest in Candelaria and San Antonio de los Baños, in the western province of Artemisa, as part of his work agenda in the country's municipalities.

As first stop of the visit, he visited in Candelaria the area where a photovoltaic solar park is being built which will provide 21.8 megaWatts and whose execution is at 34 %, informed on X the Presidency.

During the day, the President went to the municipality of San Antonio de los Baños, where he visited the substrate plant of the " Lazaro Peña" Tobacco Collection and Processing Company.

The production, which started in early 2024, is 1,500 tons.

The seed pelletizing center of the Tobacco Research Institute was the next focus of the morning.

The technology that exists there is enough to pelletize all the tobacco seed used in the country and to extend it to other crops as well, the Presidency highlighted on the social network.

Later today, the Cuban president toured sites of economic and social interest in Batabano, in the province of Mayabeque.

According to the Presidency's website on X, Diaz-Canel began his tour at the San Fermin farm, which has 10 hectares of land dedicated to production, most of them planted with tomatoes, garlic, malanga and yucca.
Later, he visited a new housing community that is being built to benefit families living in low-lying areas of Surgidero de Batabano.

In dialogue with the population, at several places along the tour, the Head of State acknowledged the complexity of the current situation Cubans are going through and at the same time invited to be optimistic that the nation is overcoming the difficulties.

The participation of the people in everything is fundamental, he insisted.

The Head of State was accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the CC PCC.
