VARADERO, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) “We will keep coming back; we love this country, its people and its beaches, and we highly recommend other people to come and enjoy the Cuba experience,” said James and Sheila Coyle, a Canadian couple staying at the Royalton Hicacos Hotel for the 26th time.
They claimed to be aware of last week’s power grid shutdown—which can happen in any country, they assured—and to have witnessed the recovery efforts.
Yoan David Pérez Sánchez, the hotel’s Cuban director, remarked that the Royal Hicacos has a power generator and managed to keep working as usual to service its current 80% occupancy as the staff looks forward to the upcoming high season in the Cuban travel industry, which is bound to be marked by a larger number of guests than in 2023, mainly from Russia, Canada and Germany.
During the energy contingency of the recent days in Varadero Beach, Cuba’s main sun-and-beach tourist destination, recognized by its safety and natural beauty, protecting the guests and meeting their needs was the top priority.
