Cuba promoted as a rural tourist destination

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 10 (ACN) In November 2025, according to ECOTUR travel agency director-general Raul Naranjo Aday, Cuba will host 10th Ibero-American Meeting of Rural Tourism, held in recognition of and to promote the natural values of the Cuban countryside.

In Colombia, where the 9th Meeting will take place this year, ECOTUR will present a paper highlighting selected destinations in the provinces of Havana and Mayabeque, where state and non-state farms are engaged in the production of tobacco, cocoa, fruit, honey, handicrafts and other items highly demanded by tourists.

“That the Organizing Committee selected Cuba as the venue in 2025 over many other applicants is a reason for joy and commitment to keep working on sustainability and evidence of the progress we have achieved in promotion and marketing,” Naranjo Aday remarked.

Organized by the Spain-based Ibero-American Institute of Rural Tourism (IBEROATUR), which gathers 22 member nations and whose board of directors is made up of representatives from Spain, Panama, Portugal, Guatemala and Costa Rica, these events provide a context to share information, views, experiences, studies and good practices, boost cooperation among the participating nations, and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

IBEROATUR granted Cuba the venue of its 2025 Meeting on grounds that the island “has a high organizational capacity, human and technical resources, infrastructure, and experience in the organization of conferences”.
