Cuban province invested more than 111 million pesos in hydraulic works

BAYAMO, Cuba, Aug 9 (ACN) The Delegation of Hydraulic Resources of Granma, in the southeastern part of Cuba, invested 111,100,000 million pesos in construction and assembly actions, during January to July of the current year.

That amount -almost double the amount executed in 2023- made it possible to finance 13 works, among them the completion and start-up of a water desalination plant that benefits 1,197 residents of the rural community of Las Mangas, in the municipality of Bayamo, Robisnel Maceo Ramos, the entity's investment director, told the press.

Another prioritized route, he said, is the final works on the civil and technological structure of the water treatment plant of the aqueduct of the town of Guisa, capital of the mountainous locality of the same name.

This investment is in the trial phase and so far supplies the liquid to 17,500 consumers, 86 % of the estimated number of customers to be supplied, he added

They are also working to conclude the replacement of a 7.7 kilometer long and 630 millimeters in diameter section in the conduit of well 5, located in the area of Cayo Redondo, in Yara, and responsible for supplying 300 liters of water per second to Manzanillo, the second most important city in Granma, Maceo Ramos continued.

The plan includes the completion of the water supply networks of the La Demajagua settlement in Manzanillo, an action that will eliminate the use of pipes, which will have a significant impact on the quantity and quality of the service, as well as on fuel savings, said Marbelis Campos Busquet, delegate of Hydraulic Resources in the province.

The main objective of all these actions is to increase the amount of population that receives safely administered water, and improve the service where it is still deficient, Campos Busquet remarked.
