Cuban central province introduces high-end seeding machine

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Apr 8 (ACN) The introduction of a high-end seeding machine has humanized agricultural work and increased production levels at the El Porvenir farm in the central province of Cienfuegos.

Alcides Hernandez Perez, owner of the farm, told the Cuban News Agency that the equipment is capable of sowing eight hectares in one day, if it has the necessary seed.

He explained that the Tabacuba Business Group selected a group of farms in order to strengthen them with equipment and increase the tobacco harvest.

"El Porvenir", located in the municipality of Cumanayagua, was one of the beneficiaries, receiving tractors, carts, plows, mowers, choppers, implements that can be used all year round, Hernandez Perez said.

However, he clarified, the seeder could only be used within the planting campaign stage of the aromatic leaf, since they are experimentally working with other crops such as chili or sweet potato seedlings.

The equipment performs several tasks at the same time, because it has a disc for deep furrowing, deposits the seedlings at the established distance, and then the machine itself drags the soil to cover the sowing, it also has the possibility of applying water irrigation along with the sowing, including the use of drip irrigation.

Dedicated mainly to the cultivation of tobacco, this farm is considered one of the largest producers of this plant, with high quality layers for export, in addition to food items to contribute to the municipality and the support of workers.
