Cuban agricultural company increases its exports

LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Apr 2 (ACN) During the first quarter of the year, the Agricultural Enterprise of Las Tunas, in this eastern province, under the Agroint seal, exported to the European market about 400 tons of charcoal, a commercial activity that has consolidated this item as the main product of the entity.

The departure of 20 containers through the Mariel Special Development Zone, in the western part of the country, made it possible to guarantee a good part of the growing demand of international clients, through requests that guarantee the quality of the product and the potential of the province to maintain operations.

Argel Pupo Rodriguez, director of exports and imports of Agroint, said exclusively to the Cuban News Agency that the existence of enough raw material in this territory supports the mercantile dynamics through suppliers belonging to Credit and Service Cooperatives, agricultural producers and other forms of management.

In addition, the executive added, alliances are strengthened with state-owned companies in Holguin, Camagüey and livestock entities in almost all the country, which provides sustainability in productions and the possibility of increasing volumes, since there are orders for more than six foreign companies in the coming weeks.

Although the company's intentions included the export of about 80 containers from January to date, the tight situation with the energy carriers prevented it from reaching these figures; however, the search for alternatives for transportation preserved the continuity of shipments.

Agroint exports charcoal according to market parameters in three classifications: first class, mixed charcoal and second class; at the same time, this stage included the marketing of carbonilla, in addition to other products such as hot peppers of the habanero chili variety and we conducted a dynamic test for the sale of donkey banana; we intend to increase these actions and consolidate more lines, as there is authorization for sweet potato, cassava, coconut, avocado and other agricultural products, Pupo Rodriguez stated.

With more than a year certified as the first exporting and importing company in Las Tunas, Agroint is working on finding new clients in the European Union and countries of the Americas; an agricultural entity that plays a leading role in foreign trade from this eastern province.
