HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC PCC) and president of the country, visited Palma Soriano, in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, as part of the second stage of his working tours of the country's territories.
After visiting the Guantanamo municipality of Manuel Tames, on Thursday morning, the Head of State toured several economic entities in Santiago, according to the X account of the Presidency.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the CC PCC, they visited the "7 de Noviembre" Productive Pole, which for years was covered with marabu and today has 144 hectares (ha) of different crops.
This is the way forward, acknowledged Diaz-Canel when he learned that there are only 10 hectares left to be planted.
The country's top management also visited AZUMAT, a company engaged in harvest logistics, and ZETI, whose profile is industrial technical services.
In both institutions, they exchanged with executives and workers about their great potential.
The Dos Rios sugar mill, the only one currently milling in the province, was another stop on the tour.
Since 2010, the mill has not fulfilled its harvest plan. By 2024 they must deliver some 18,000 tons, and although there are delays, the labor group has not given up on complying with the agreement.
On Thursday, the head of state visited the Manuel Tames Basic Business Unit (UEB), the Argeo Martinez plant and the El Jamaicano restaurant in the easternmost province of Guantanamo.
In the second series of visits to entities of economic and social interest in the country, the President has focused on those entities with poor economic results.
