Diaz-Canel visits important economic entities in Cuban western province

CARDENAS, MATANZAS, Cuba, Feb 9 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, visited today entities of economic and social relevance to verify strategies, practices and projections focused on improvement.

President was accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee; Susely Morfa Gonzalez, first secretary of the PCC in the province of Matanzas; and other political and governmental authorities during his visit to the Basic Business Unit (UEB) of Cardenas Dairy Products.

Cuban leader was interested in the connections that allow them to maintain the vital industry in spite of the limitations, the productions in which they venture, and urged the workers to continue along the path of creativity.

Mayra Castell Rodriguez, director of UEB, explained that they are currently working on ice cream, chocotere (a cocoa-based confectionery product), syrup, custard and miragur (a whey-based product), the last two of which are the result of the productive linkage with the MSMEs Marrero Sabor and Super Bola.

In 2023, in spite of the limitations with milk, the year closed at 83 % of the expected plan, now the forecasts are better because the MSMEs guarantee us raw material according to the availability in the market, he commented.

She told the Cuban News Agency that as alternatives in 2024 they will work in the line of chocolates, chambelonas and fruit compotes, for social consumption, in which they are making ventures, the market launch is still pending.

The municipality of Cardenas has a territorial extension of about 565 square kilometers, and is one of the municipalities with the highest annual population growth among its similarities in the country.
