Havana, Jan 23 (ACN) The Cuban Banco de Credito y Comercio, a bank known here by its acronyms Bandec, announced the availability as of January 24 of dollar-pegged prepaid cards at its branch offices and at money exchange points to pay for goods and services in retail and wholesale markets as wells as for car fuels.
The cards, which can be charged with cash money (US dollars, Euros, and other hard currency authorized in the country) can be purchased at a cost of 4 US dollars by Cuba residents or non-residents, tourists, cooperatives, private companies, and other economic actors.
The cards can be charged with no less than 50 US dollars and used only on Cuban territory with a five-year expiring period. They can either be charged with cash money here or by money transfer from abroad.
In the case of the purchase of fuel, the cards will be used in a network of gas stations set up to that aim aside from the usual service for local citizens.
Visitors who purchase and charge the cards will be reimbursed up to 100 dollars at their exit of the country by presenting their plane ticket, if they did not used up the card deposit.
Previously Bandec had launched prepaid cards for international visitors to give them access to goods and services in shops accepting payment by electronic means. @Bandec97
