Cuban province for more effective bankarization in 2024

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Jan 3 (ACN) With the objective of surpassing the more than 9 million operations carried out through the different electronic payment channels in Villa Clara in 2023, the Banco de Credito y Comercio (Bandec) of the territory plans to successfully complete in 2024 the process of bankarization of the society.

 

Yanet Mendez Castillo, institutional communicator of the entity, told the Cuban News Agency that for this year that has just begun, priority will be given to the attention to virtual systems, the consolidation of links with customers (especially with new economic actors to help make their financial operations transparent) and the strengthening of alliances with the university.

 

In view of the challenges imposed by the foreign exchange market and the current economic situation, emphasis will also be placed on training professionals in the sector, with a view to optimizing coverage for the preparation and financing of sectors vital for social development, such as agriculture, commerce and industry, she added.

 

 Likewise, work will continue on the application of Resolution 111, issued by the Central Bank of Cuba, which regulates the limits for cash collections and payments in local currency, its deposit, extraction and possession.

 

In December, the province registered more than 1,256 clients connected to Virtual Bandec, more than 2,000 using the extra cash service and more than 158,000 cards associated with the payment of payroll out of the 500,000 issued to date, confirmed Odalys Gomez Duque, deputy provincial director of the institution.

 

The specialist pointed out the use of payment channels that do not require the physical presence of users in bank branches, among which the Tranfermovil and Enzona platforms, increasingly popular among the population, are the most important.

 

Gomez Duque confirmed that in 2023 the financing supported by Bandec exceeded 10 billion pesos between working capital, investments, local development projects, as well as from the incorporation of MSMEs and other new economic actors in the province.
